I bought this saddle for my TB mare. It was one of the older models (before Toklat changed the manufacturer) and it was made of very nice leather.

I paid $550 for it used and it was still in very nice shape. This is a true XC saddle with a balance point that’s a bit further back to keep you secure over larger xc and drop fences. It’s not a saddle that’s really balanced for flat work as it tends to put your feet slightly out in front of you “on the dashboard.”

I found that this saddle ride a bit “large” because of the length of the seat. You should consider a seat size that’s about a half inch smaller than you normally take because of that.

This is a great saddle if you have long legs. It has a very forward flap but nicely balanced. I never felt that it put me in real a chair seat, which is a problem with some forward flap jumping saddles, probably because the stirrup bars are placed pretty far back. I found it comfortable to flat in and also worked very well over fences. I bought the saddle in a medium tree and I think it fit very true to form; my mare had fairly pronounced withers and the saddle didn’t interfere. It had reasonable knee rolls which worked well on the mare who was slightly narrow. I sold the saddle with the mare and regretted it!

I’ve looked at some of the newer models and don’t like them nearly as well. If you can find the older ones, they are very nice saddles.
